Hardcore simultaneously developed in the USA and UK as a secession of punk and has come quite far since back in the day. The American scene is especially important and still an extremely strong and big part of the genre. Within the former movement, like New York (NYHC) or Boston, they’re still alive and doing well. The music is divided into old school and new school, but the borders are blurring and therefore it is not easy to put a band into a certain category. Modern hardcore presents itself with huge diversity and so not only a band like Hatebreed is considered as hardcore but you’ve got bands like Being As An Ocean who are also considered to be in the same genre too.
