Early releases such as the EPs Pressure To Succeed (2011) and Step 2 Rhythm (2013), as well as their debut studio album Nonstop Feeling (2015), quickly made it clear that Turnstile wanted more than simply reproducing genre boundaries. On the contrary, they experimented early on, blending elements from both closely related and distant genres into their music. You can hear nu metal and alternative metal elements just as much as pop and funk influences.
With Time & Space (2018), they achieved their international breakthrough, before Glow On (2021) ultimately catapulted the band into the mainstream. The album was celebrated for its genre-blending sound and positive energy, bringing Turnstile closer to an entirely new audience. They have since become one of the most important gateway bands for alternative music.
Never Enough (2025) consistently continued their modern mix of hardcore and other influences and was celebrated not only by fans but also equally by critics and the press.
Unlike many other hardcore punk bands, Turnstile are not exclusively political. Their lyrics address social issues but also reflect personal topics of the band members. The words practically urge listeners to stand up for themselves and, in doing so, contribute something positive to society.
