156/Silence have been making waves as a metalcore act from Pennsylvania, USA, since 2015 – and in just one week from today, they’ll be taking the stage as one of the support acts for The Devil Wears Prada on their Europe + UK Flowers Tour. Here are a few facts and listening recommendations to get you ready!
Tour Outlook: New Album on the Setlist
On the upcoming tour alongside co-supports Novelists and Oversize, 156/Silence will almost certainly put their freshly released album From A Distance center stage, as the record was just dropped on September 4. A new music video for the title track featuring vocalist Alex Reade from Make Them Suffer recently went online as well – bringing us straight to our first listening tip, which marks one of the emotional highlights of the new record. That said, letting the entire album run from start to finish is highly recommended. Among the twelve tracks, you’ll also find collaboration tracks with Crippling Alcoholism and Mike Hranica of The Devil Wears Prada – so we might very well be in for a live feature on tour.
There are three more singles you can use to explore 156/Silence’s current sound: “No Arms”, “Proxy Idols”, and “Swept From Under (Call of the Void)” – definite candidates for the setlist. The band has already played a large portion of the new tracks live during their recent shows, alongside highlights from their previous full-lengths People Watching (2024), Irrational Pull (2020), and Undercover Scumbag (2018).
Through the Years, Across the Stages
A few lineup changes during their early years didn't slow the band down. While Mike Ernst originally held the mic, Jack Murray is currently handling vocal duties, with changes also occurring on guitar, bass, and drums. The band describes their overall sound as metalcore, or more specifically, a fusion of elements from hardcore punk, post-hardcore, and mathcore. Their catalog of releases keeps growing steadily, while they regularly hit the road with peers from the core scene – most recently in March of this year supporting Fit For A King on their Lonely God European tour.
