Poppy is becoming increasingly well-known in the heavy scene, but she had already made a name for herself long before that with her unique, genre-blending music. Through collaborations with bands like Bad Omens, Knocked Loose, and Babymetal, the metal, metalcore, and hardcore scenes are paying more attention to her than ever — but the metal aspect of her sound is anything but new. Ever since her 2020 album I Disagree, fans have associated heavy music influences with Poppy — after all, she was even nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Metal Performance category with the one of the album's tracks.

For everyone who only discovered Poppy through her more recent tracks (and everyone who simply loves her), we’ve put together 10 song highlights from her career. Definitely give them a listen — it’s worth it!

10. New Way Out

By far the most-streamed song from Negative Spaces: catchy alternative rock with metalcore vibes.

9. F.Y.B

“F.Y.B” opens Poppy’s 2022 EP Stagger. Punky!

8. Her

With “Her,” we head into her 2021 album Flux and a calmer single with a grunge sound — perfect for autumn and winter playlists…

7. Eat

In “Eat,” Poppy processes the thoughts and feelings tied to her eating disorder, both musically and lyrically. A powerful track full of raw emotion.

6. Lowlife

Back to the very beginning with the Bubblebath EP, which opens with “Lowlife” — back when she was still known as That Poppy.

5. BLOODMONEY

We move into the I Disagree album; from here on out, the heavy elements become only stronger.

4. I Disagree

The title track offers a beautiful contrast of calm and fury, clean vocals and heavy guitars.

3. Bite Your Teeth

More from I Disagree — and according to many fans, one of the best representations of Poppy’s metal-driven style.

2. X

Named as a favorite by many fans — and deservedly so. While “Girls In Bikinis” from the accompanying album Am I A Girl? is the only track to surpass 100 million Spotify streams, “X” is the album’s true standout. You can’t get much more genre-blend than this.

1. Anything Like Me

Speaking of genre blends…
