The Harry Potter success story began in 1990 when Joanne K. Rowling invented the character of Harry Potter on a train journey from Manchester to London. Rowling scribbled the first sentences of the soon-to-be bestsellers on paper napkins at a time when she was dependent on welfare. She worked intensively on the later books parallel to a teaching job in Portugal. Part 1 of the Harry Potter series - "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" - was published in 1997 in a small print run, but Bloomsbury Publishing soon had to supply more and the fantasy novel became a box-office hit. Part 2 hit the bookstores in 1998, followed by Part 3 in 1999. Where the Harry Potter books had not yet experienced a breakthrough by then, it followed at the latest with the publication of Part 4 in 2000. Volumes five to seven had the longest pre-order lists. In the meantime, around 500 million copies of Harry Potter volumes have crossed the shop counter and the books have been translated into more than 70 languages. Harry Potter can even be read in Latin today. The novels have been reprinted several times, some of them as the Harry Potter Collection. The Harry Potter audio book is also particularly popular. The creator of Harry Potter is considered one of the most successful writers in the world today.

By the way, there is now also a spin-off of the Harry Potter series. With "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them", fans of the infamous wizard can once again immerse themselves in a world full of exciting animals, magical creatures and spells. The main actors who portrayed Harry Potter and his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger were only around twelve years old at the start of filming and their working hours, prescribed by the protection of minors, were a challenge for the entire production. Outside of these hours, the young actors were doubled by diminutive adults. The eight Harry Potter films are still among the most commercially successful productions and were nominated for a total of twelve Oscars.

The last book "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" was filmed in two parts. A producer, four directors and countless actors contributed to the success alongside the author. Rowling only agreed to the filming of her works when she was given a say in the process.
