Since their formation in 1977 in Manhattan Beach, California, Descendents have significantly shaped the punk rock scene. Band members Milo Aukerman (vocals), Bill Stevenson (drums), Karl Alvarez (bass) and Stephen Egerton (guitar) have left their mark not only on stage but also behind the scenes as producers and technicians in punk rock and beyond. Despite several breaks and lineup changes, especially in the bass and guitar areas, the band has preserved and evolved their identity.
