Whitechapel have shown quite impressively throughout their career just how versatile deathcore can sound. Formed in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 2006, they initially explored the brutal side of the genre with The Somatic Defilement and This Is Exile. A New Era of Corruption and Our Endless War further established their position in the extreme metal scene before the band increasingly incorporated more melodic and atmospheric elements into their sound with Mark of the Blade, The Valley and Kin. In 2025, the pendulum swung back toward darker and more aggressive deathcore with Hymns in Dissonance.
