KREATOR – HATE & HOPE erzählt erstmals die vierzigjährige Geschichte der legendären Thrash-Metal-Band aus dem Ruhrgebiet. 1982 als Schülerband gegründet, eroberten Kreator mit kompromissloser Härte und politischem Bewusstsein die internationale Metalszene. Regisseurin Cordula Kablitz-Post („Weil du nur einmal lebst“) begleitet die Band ein Jahr lang rund um den Globus – von Wacken über Tokio, Bangalore und Los Angeles bis zum „Klash of the Ruhrpott“ in Gelsenkirchen. Zwischen Hannah Arendt-Zitaten, wilden Riffs und schockierenden Bildern entsteht eine mitreißende Mischung aus Konzertfilm, Roadmovie und Zeitdokument. Private Archivaufnahmen, intime Einblicke und Interviews mit Musikgrößen wie Scott Ian (Anthrax), Chuck Billy (Testament) oder Bela B. (Die Ärzte) machen den Film zu einer energiegeladenen Hommage an eine Band, die mit Leidenschaft, Haltung und Kreativität seit Jahrzehnten gegen die Abgründe unserer Zeit anspielt.
