The Black Dahlia Murder were founded in 2001 in Michigan. Right from their first releases, the band made it clear that they could combine melodic death metal with the energy of metalcore and a healthy dose of heaviness like almost no other act. This concept very quickly became their trademark.
Following Unhallowed (2003), their international breakthrough came with albums like Miasma (2005) and Nocturnal (2007), which are still considered milestones of the modern death metal scene today. In the subsequent years, The Black Dahlia Murder further built their reputation with releases like Deflorate (2009), Ritual (2011), Everblack (2013), Abysmal (2015), and Nightbringers (2017), establishing themselves as a constant presence on major festival stages.
For many years, frontman Trevor Strnad was a central figure of the band. With his distinctive voice, stage presence, and closeness to the scene, he crucially shaped the image of The Black Dahlia Murder. After his passing in 2022, the band decided to carry on together. The final release with Strnad on vocals was Verminous in 2020. Guitarist Brian Eschbach took over vocals and led the group into a new phase of their career with the album Servitude (2024). Today, The Black Dahlia Murder continue to stand for technically demanding melodic death metal, intense live shows, and a close connection to their fanbase.
