The Band's History
The instrumental powerhouse Disturbed is undeniably ruled by groove. Although the individual band members cite heavy metal bands like
Iron Maiden,
Judas Priest, and
QueensrĆæche as their main influences, the result from this quintet from Chicago, Illinois, sounds a bit different. Disturbed songs like "Indestructible" or "Down With The Sickness" exhibit strong alternative metal and hard rock influences. In addition to the catchy riffs, the gritty yet soulful voice of frontman and exceptional singer David Draiman is the band's signature feature. Disturbed was formed in 1994 under the name Brawl. The band took some time to find its sound, which changed with the
arrival of singer David Draiman in 1996. The band renamed itself Disturbed and recorded a first demo, which received much attention from regional music fans, radio stations, and labels. In 2000, a record deal with Giant Records was secured, through which the debut album THE SICKNESS was released. The debut sold over 5 million copies, and the single "Down With The Sickness" became an absolute earworm and a staple at metal parties. Disturbed is now considered
