While She Sleeps' new video opens with the following words from founding member and guitarist Mat Welsh:
"I don't know how we can explain why we're doing it unless we tel the whole story."
Loz Taylor, Mat Welsh, Aaran Mckenzie, Adam Savage and Sean Long then share a long, emotional look back at their history as a band — from their earliest beginnings before the official formation right up to today. It all leads to a difficult but firm decision: While She Sleeps will be taking an extended break from touring, as they feel they can’t continue as a band with full energy without a pause.
Toward the end, Mat Welsh adds:
"I want this band to live forever. If we want it to live forever, we have to stop something."
The final, official statement then comes from Loz Taylor:
"We have made the decision to take an extended break from touring. We feel like that is gonna be the best way for us to continue."
Bassist Aaran McKenzie also says:
"I can't see the next evolution happening unless we hit the reset button."
After such an emotional rollercoaster, we’re simply glad to hear that While She Sleeps will continue making music and that we can still look forward to new releases. Still, we’ll definitely miss them on stage and hope for a comeback once all band members have fully recharged mentally and physically and found new energy.
