It’s admittedly been quite a while since we last got a studio album from System Of A Down. Their fifth record Hypnotize was released at the end of 2005, and most recently the singles “Protect The Land” and “Genocidal Humanoidz” came out in 2020. But no matter what may or may not come in the future, the old classics remain true staples of the metal scene. So ahead of this year’s major European stadium tour, we’ve listed the greatest classics by these metal icons once again.

Turn up the speakers and dive back in!

B.Y.O.B.

Album: Mezmerize (2005)

We’re starting later in System Of A Down’s discography, with their fourth album Mezmerize, delivering direct criticism of state propaganda.

Toxicity

Album: Toxicity (2001)

The title track of their most famous album, and pure energy…

Spiders

Album: System Of A Down (1998)

It was only their second single ever, released on their self-titled debut album, and also featured on the horror movie soundtrack "Scream 3".

Aerials

Album: Toxicity (2001)

“Aerials” closes Toxicity on an atmospheric note, with a ballad-like feel that has previously been compared to Metallica’s “The Unforgiven.”

Chop Suey!

Album: Toxicity (2001)

The undisputed classic, which has received 19 platinum and two gold certifications worldwide on its own. The title actually comes from the lyric “self-righteous suicide” (the song’s original title), which can easily be misheard as “self right Chop Suey side.”
