Five years ago today, on September 24, 2021, Sleep Token released their second studio album: This Place Will Become Your Tomb was the band's first album to enter the official German album charts before the massive hype surrounding its successor Take Me Back To Eden took off. The record reached No. 37 in Germany and has already achieved Silver status in the UK. Following the strong foundation of several EPs and their debut Sundowning, This Place Will Become Your Tomb represented the first major step toward their international success, driven by their masked image and a growing fanbase.
Even though much of the focus has since shifted to newer albums, Sleep Token never removed tracks like “Alkaline” and “Hypnosis” from their setlists right through to their last shows in 2025. Conceptually, the album is a singular atmospheric journey – from sound to artwork – and fan favorites on the tracklist like the deeply emotional opener “Atlantic” or “The Love You Want” are already evoking nostalgia half a decade later. Above all, it raises the question – when will we get to hear these songs live again?
