My Chemical Romance are definitely not making it easy to stay patient while waiting for official announcements. On Saturday, the group played one of the final shows of their current The Black Parade Tour 2026 in San Antonio, Texas – and teased a new MCR album in the process. To be fair though, it sounded less like anything will be released anytime soon, but like the heartfelt wish to release another record. Gerard Way delivered the following words to the crowd in attendance:

“Just know that, like, we’ve kind of really always wanted to make another record, so we hope that life allows us to do that. Cause you guys, honestly, you guys kept us alive so long. You guys deserve another record. I don’t know when it’ll be. But it’ll be awesome.”

Sounds like the goal for MCR5 has actually been set for a while, but if it is to happen at all, we'll have to wait quite a while longer for further details. Should these plans take shape, it would mark My Chemical Romance's fifth studio album – and their first since they released their last record, Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys, in 2010 and disbanded three years later.

This fall, My Chemical Romance will also be appearing at the Louder Than Life Festival, the Aftershock Festival, and for a few shows in Hollywood at the end of October – featuring special guests including The Used and Thrice.

New Live Track of “The Sharpest Lives”

As part of the major anniversary of The Black Parade, My Chemical Romance have also released a 20th Anniversary Edition of the iconic album – dropping a new live track plus video clip for “The Sharpest Lives”, which will also be featured on the new edition.
