Two of the rock world's most iconic albums are currently virtually neck-and-neck in the ChartMasters rankings, but no matter how slim the margin, Nirvana has pulled ahead. AC/DC now sits at #7 with their 1980 sixth studio album Back In Black – home to world-famous anthems like “Hells Bells”, “You Shook Me All Night Long”, and of course the title track. Nirvana's Nevermind, released roughly a decade later, has officially climbed to #6 according to current standings, edging past Back In Black. We're talking about a margin between 66,852,000 units (Nevermind) and 66,840,000 units (Back In Black).
This makes Nevermind the most recent album in the Top 10: ahead of both records in the Top 5 are two Michael Jackson albums and Hotel California by the Eagles, among others. Trailing behind both releases are further milestones in rock history, including Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon, The Beatles' Abbey Road, and Led Zeppelin's Led Zeppelin IV.
