Usually, we don’t focus on the Album of the Year until the end of the year. But this year, we’ve already heard so many great records by mid-year that we need to take stock early. That’s why we also asked you on Instagram which albums you’ve found strongest so far in 2025. We couldn’t agree more with your picks and have gathered the titles of eleven contenders here. And this is just a fraction of the releases that have reached us this year!
Sleep Token – Even In Arcadia
The long-awaited fourth studio album from Sleep Token has received massive attention following the immense success of Take Me Back To Eden. No surprise that Even In Arcadia shot straight to number 1 in the charts!

Heaven Shall Burn – Heimat
Heimat is already the tenth studio album from Heaven Shall Burn! Supported by Britta Görtz at the record release shows, this release became something very special, despite vocalist Marcus Bischoff's infection at the time.

Bury Tomorrow – Will You Haunt Me, With That Same Patience
Bury Tomorrow absolutely blew us — and clearly you, too — away in May with their new record Will You Haunt Me, With That Same Patience, as you kept mentioning the album again and again in our comments!

Paleface Swiss – Cursed
Paleface Swiss really went all out this year with Cursed, an album whose songs captivated the crowd live at Impericon Festival 2025, from the hardest-hitting track to the ballad “River Of Sorrows”.

TBS – Das Weiße Album
The party only really starts when Das Weiße Album by The Butcher Sisters is playing. The guys proved that once again at the Impericon Festival. Grab a White Monster and put the record on again!

Spiritbox – Tsunami Sea
On Tsunami Sea, Spiritbox delivered one strong track after another, from the opening track “Fata Morgana” to the acclaimed single “Soft Spine”, where Courtney LaPlante unleashes her full screaming power.

Whitechapel – Hymns in Dissonance
With their ninth studio album, Whitechapel released a top-tier album for the deathcore world in March. Hymns in Dissonance combines modern sounds of the genre with dark progressive metal - hitting the mark perfectly, as your comments show!

Turnstile – NEVER ENOUGH
Released fresh in June and already an absolute highlight of the year: NEVER ENOUGH is the strong follow-up to GLOW ON (2021) and the first album the band has released with guitarist Meg Mills as an official band member.

Ghost – Skeletá
A new Papa, a new era: Ghost have ushered in the age of Skeletá with Papa V. Perpetua on vocals. Tobias Forge once again delivers an album full of unforgettable tunes.

Landmvrks – The Darkest Place I’ve Ever Been
In April, Landmvrks secured a top spot on this list, as you’re clearly thrilled by their new output. The Darkest Place I’ve Ever Been marks their fourth studio album and even made it to number 6 in the official German charts — not bad at all!

Architects – The Sky, The Earth & All Between
The clear leader in your comments so far: Architects with their new work The Sky, The Earth & All Between. Since February, it seems like the album has been on repeat for many of you. We’re excited to see if any upcoming releases will change your minds or if you’ll stay loyal to this one!
