House of the Dragon Merch - Designs based on House Targaryen's Story

The hit series “Game of Thrones” got a spin-off on August 21, 2022, three years after the last season of “Game of Thrones”. “House of the Dragon” sheds more light on the history of Daenerys Targaryen’s ancestors. You can stream the series via HBO Max.

What is House of the Dragon about?

The series takes place around 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones”. House Targaryen is at the height of its power at this point, ruling the Seven Kingdoms on the Iron Throne. Viserys Targaryen is considered a benevolent king - but who could be a natural born successor? This conflict is a central part of the new fantasy and medieval series.

King Viserys demands that his daughter Rhaenyra should be his successor. This is a thorn in the side of his second wife Alicent Hightower: She wants to see their son Aegon II Targaryen on the Iron Throne. Finally, the king’s brother Daemon Targaryen, also starts claiming the crown. We already know from “Game of Thrones” that this scandal will trigger a bloody civil war, better known as “Dance of the Dragons”.

Look forward to the book adaption with a well-known cast

Like the original series, “House of the Dragon” is also based on a book by George R. R. Martin, who incidentally helped with writing the spin-off. “Fire and Blood” chronicles the full rise and fall of House Targaryen. The book's content may give us way more than only one season!

The “House of the Dragon” cast is also very impressive. You can look forward to Olivia Cooke (“Bates Motel”), Graham McTravish (“The Hobbit”, “The Witcher”) or Matt Smith (“The Crown”). We’re also going to see Emma D’Arcy: D’Arcy plays the older Rhaenyra Targaryen, the first female potential heir to the throne.
