Despite the massive Long Live The Black Parade Tour from My Chemical Romance, Gerard Way has apparently found time for an entirely new band project: The Mock-Ups. And it looks like this hasn’t just started yesterday — after Gauzy Records dropped the first teaser from the band a few days ago, the single titled “I Wanna Know Your Name” already came out yesterday!
The complete band lineup
Gerard Way takes on vocals and bass for this project. Also involved are The Interrupters: Jesse Bivona on drums, Aimee Allen on backing vocals, and Kevin Bivona as producer. On top of that, guitarist Michael Schulz from Fender rounds out the lineup.
Sound engineer Doug McKean also worked on the single, but sadly passed away in 2022, after which MCR paid tribute to him at their concert in Los Angeles in June. Alongside My Chemical Romance, he also worked with artists like Green Day and Paramore. This also shows how long The Mock-Ups have been active behind the scenes already.
“I Wanna Know Your Name”: Listen to the single!
You can already stream this debut track on Spotify and YouTube, while the limited single vinyl is available for pre-order online. No concrete release date has been given yet, but according to gauzyrecords.com, the B-side features the 'Screen Printed “Monkey” Collectors Edition'.

We’re curious to see if there will be more music from The Mock-Ups in the near future — and especially whether an album announcement might already be on the horizon…
