Originally, the Heavy Music Awards 2025 were supposed to be presented live in London as always, but this year things are turning out differently than planned. The organizing team recently shared an official statement announcing that unfortunately, no live on-site ceremony will be possible this year. Due to severe health strains within the already small organizing team, such an event is currently not realistically feasible. However, the HMAs will not be canceled: there will be a digital award show.

“After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the physical edition of the Heavy Music Awards 2025. As many of you know, the HMAs are run by an incredibly small team, and currently half of that team is undergoing intensive daily medical treatment for a brain tumor. Together with some unexpected challenges behind the scenes, we had to face the reality that a live show this year is simply not the right decision.
Instead, we will be switching to a digital format for this year’s awards. We will celebrate the winners online and across our platforms with the same passion and commitment to the global rock and metal community that has been at the heart of the HMAs since day one. We are also looking into other ways to further celebrate our award winners – more on that soon. The most important thing is that this year’s winners were chosen by the fans. That power, that voice, and that cheer deserve to continue to be heard loud and clear. That is exactly what we aim to achieve.

This is not the end. It is a restart. When we return, we will be stronger, more determined, and more driven than ever before.
