Festivals come with a lot to keep in mind – from massive crowds and campsite rules to unpredictable weather and nonstop party vibes!
To help you have the best experience possible at your next event, we’ve put together some important tips: from packing must-haves to proper behavior in the crowd. Whether you're hitting a one-day show, a four-day summer fest, indoor or outdoor events – you’ll find practical advice from real experiences right here.
Hygiene
Don’t forget that there can be long queues at showers, toilets, and porta-potties...
Do bring hand sanitizer, wet wipes, tissues, and sunscreen for a comfortable festival experience!

Outfit
Don’t put style over comfort!
If you want to dance, mosh, lounge in the grass, or avoid sunburn, choose comfy clothes and consider sun protection like a hat or cap.
Merch Shopping
Do check out the merch stand as early as possible!
If you plan to buy band merch or just want to browse, don’t forget that popular items sell out fast. If you have a preferred size, grab your favorite pieces early!

Phone
Do bring your charger and a power bank!
Whatever you do, don’t forget your phone charger and a fully charged power bank. That way, your phone survives even without access to outlets.
Friends & Socializing
Do make a plan with your friends!
It’s easy to get separated at festivals – that’s why it’s great to agree on a meetup spot just in case your phone dies.
Do make new friends!
Festivals are full of like-minded people – from new friendships and deep chats at the campsite to concert buddies waiting to be found!
Don’t: Even if you're having fun and meeting new people, stay cautious and don’t follow strangers to remote areas alone.
In the Crowd & Mosh Pit
Do have fun!
But don’t put others in danger.
Always be aware of those around you. Help each other out and take breaks when needed. And yes, even if the trip to the toilet is annoying, staying hydrated should always be a priority – especially in the summer heat! The same goes for snacks to keep your energy up.

Safety
Do always prioritize your safety!
If you need help, reach out to the festival team. Many festivals across the world now offer designated safe spaces you can go to. In Gremany, you can also use the code phrase “Panama” with staff to discreetly signal that you need assistance. They’ll help remove you from the situation, take you to a safe area, and offer support. Some festivals even have women-only zones – check the website of your event for info in advance!
Safety also means: take a break if you need it. Don’t give in to peer pressure if something doesn’t feel right.
Camping
Do check your camping gear before departure!
A packing list helps, but testing your tent, sleeping mat, and gear before the festival weekend can save the day. You still have time for repairs or replacements. And when in doubt: always pack duct tape!

Outdoor essentials can make your live much easier on festivals!
Do leave your campsite clean. Collect your trash – you might even get a refund for full trash bags. Take damaged gear back home with you or dispose of it properly.
Don’t forget where your tent / car / camper van is!
Your campsite may look totally different at night (especially after a few drinks). Helpful tip: mark your spot with a flag or recognizable decoration you can see from afar. Either bring your own or use a neighboring landmark to find your way back.
Money & Valuables
Do bring enough cash!
Many festivals now use a cashless system, so it’s worth checking in advance if yours does too. If not, there are often ATMs on-site where you can withdraw money.
Don’t leave valuables like your wallet or phone unattended at the campsite. Keep them on you – a bum bag is great for this. If possible, store cash in multiple places (like your bum bag and a zippered jacket pocket).
