Metallica: Nostalgic Club Show to Launch Their Radio Channel

Metallica back in a “small” club. The legendary metal band played an intimate show instead of a massive stadium gig to celebrate the launch of their new radio station.

A setlist full of career highlights, yet one that takes you straight back to the band’s earliest days: last week, Metallica played a concert in front of just a few hundred fans, showing how much the intimate club atmosphere adds to a live performance. At The Stephen Talkhouse in New York, the band celebrated the launch of their own radio channel “Maximum Metallica,” which now runs around the clock on SiriusXM.

For everyone who needs more Metallica in their day: you can listen to the station through the SiriusXM app.

The nostalgia also hit the band itself, as James Hetfield joyfully said:

“This reminds us of the club days of course, when we’d get all hot and sweaty. Close and personal. And everyone just having a great time. Super loud. Everyone feels safe, and like they belong.”

Sure, fewer fans can attend a show like this, but for such a special experience, it’s definitely worth it.

Here’s the Complete Setlist

Alongside all their most famous tracks, with highlights like the emotional “The Unforgiven” and the classic “Enter Sandman”, Metallica also paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne with the sounds of “Crazy Train”. Kirk also had the only fitting words for the moment:

“Ozzy, we love you, and we miss you.”

Here’s the full list of their songs:

  1. Creeping Death
  2. For Whom the Bell Tolls
  3. Wherever I May Roam
  4. Fuel
  5. Fade to Black
  6. Sad but True
  7. The Unforgiven
  8. Whiskey in the Jar
  9. Nothing Else Matters
  10. Seek & Destroy
  11. One
