Happy birthday to all Taureans! Anyone born under the zodiac sign Taurus celebrates between April 21 and May 20. And of course, plenty of musicians from the rock and metal scene will be getting a year older over the next few weeks—time for cake, presents, and maybe a proper party. Want to know who? Here you go!

Mike Dirnt (Green Day)

Birthday: May 4, 1972

Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt celebrates his birthday in early May. He’s a known Star Wars fan—so maybe there’s a themed party in the works? Anything’s possible. Either way, we’d love to be there—good vibes are guaranteed with a true punk rocker.

Iggy Pop

Birthday: April 21, 1947

Another punk legend under the Taurus sign. The “Godfather of Punk”, Iggy Pop, will be celebrating his birthday on April 21 in (hopefully) perfect spring weather. The iconic artist with the unmistakable voice has been active since the 1960s. Chances are he’ll even sing himself a birthday song—anything else would be surprising. Happy Birthday!

mgk (Machine Gun Kelly)

Birthday: April 22, 1990

mgk, Machine Gun Kelly, Colson Baker—many names, one birthday. On April 22, the rapper-turned-pop-punk artist will likely throw a massive party. Known for surrounding himself with fellow musicians and industry friends, you can bet the guest list will be stacked. Have fun—and don’t forget to stay hydrated.

Shavo Odadjian (System Of A Down)

Birthday: April 22, 1974

Shavo Odadjian is best known as the bassist of System Of A Down, but he’s also busy with his own project Seven Hours After Violet (S.H.A.V.) and plays in North Kingsley. Busy guy! Still, we’re sure he’ll find time to celebrate—after all, he’s a Taurus too and has a birthday coming up in April. Congrats!

Patrick Stump (Fall Out Boy)

Birthday: April 27, 1984

One of the most distinctive voices in alternative and pop punk is also an April birthday. Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump—who’s also a frequent feature guest (even with Taylor Swift!)—will be blowing out his candles toward the end of the month. May his birthday songs be just as long as those early Fall Out Boy track titles.

Rodrigo González (Die Ärzte)

Birthday: May 19, 1968

The final third of “FarinBelaRod” celebrates his birthday in May, making him a Taurus as well. The bassist of legendary German punk band Die Ärzte will likely celebrate with more than just his bandmates Farin Urlaub and Bela B.—after decades in the business, there’s surely a long guest list. Enjoy the party, Rod!

Brett Gurewitz (Bad Religion)

Birthday: May 12, 1962

Brett Gurewitz is truly a multi-talent. Not only is he a founding member and guitarist of Bad Religion, but he also founded Epitaph Records—a label that has since signed some of the biggest names in punk and beyond. An incredible legacy. If that’s not a reason to celebrate properly every May 12, we don’t know what is.

Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails)

Birthday: May 17, 1965

Nine Inch Nails are impossible to imagine the modern music landscape without—and Trent Reznor is one half of the industrial legends. He founded the band in 1988 and has since expanded into film scoring, earning multiple Academy Awards nominations. Mid-May marks another birthday for this Taurus.

Josh Middleton (Sylosis, ex-Architects)

Birthday: May 18, 1985

Josh Middleton celebrates his birthday in mid-May. The Sylosis guitarist and former Architects member will turn another year older on May 18—and likely celebrate accordingly. Maybe he’ll treat himself to a fresh set of guitar strings—definitely useful with all the shows he’s playing.

Joey Jordison (†) – Slipknot

Birthday: April 26, 1975

Joey Jordison, the late former drummer of Slipknot, would have celebrated his birthday on April 26. The legendary musician played a crucial role in the band’s early success and appeared on their first four albums. He left the band in 2013 and sadly passed away in 2021. Rest in peace—we hope you’re throwing one hell of a party up there.

Julia

Hey, I’m Julia, and I’ve been working editorially in the scene for a long time. “It was never just a phase, mom” — from metalcore to emo to nu metal, I’ve loved and lived everything since my teens that lets me scream out my emotions in any situation. When I’m not listening to music, I keep up with news and trends from the scene. You’ll also often find me at concerts and festivals or out on long walks in the fields with my dog.
