Deftones: Band Sells Part of Music Rights to Warner Music Group

According to Billboard, Deftones have sold a large portion of the rights to their discography to Warner Music Group.

Deftones now have ten studio albums in their catalog, with major success dating back to their early releases and increasingly strong chart debuts in recent years — especially with Gore, Ohms, and private music. Selling a significant share of their music rights, and therefore future royalty income, to Warner Music Group appears to have been a worthwhile move. According to Billboard, the deal took place over the past two years and reportedly earned Deftones a one-time payment of around $40–75 million.

This isn’t the first deal Deftones have made with Warner Music Group either. The band had already sold the original masters of their recordings as well.
