With the suicide of Kurt Cobain in April 1994, the era of Nirvana came to an end. But just nine months later, Dave Grohl, the former drummer of the band, started a new project: the Foo Fighters. He recorded the first album entirely by himself and only assembled his group when it was time to perform on stage, with Grohl now as the frontman on vocals and guitar. The Foo Fighters don't have much in common with Nirvana. They see themselves as a classic rock band and were able to impress critics and fans alike with their first albums, Foo Fighters (1995) and The Colour And The Shape (1997). The second album featured the first legendary single “My Hero”. This heralded an era of very entertaining videos for which the band is also known. “Learn To Fly”, “The Pretender”, “Walk”, and many other cinematic clips followed. With each album, the "Foos" continued to cement their place in the Rock 'n' Roll Olympus. Most recently, this was achieved with the album MEDICINE AT MIDNIGHT (2021). The record reached number 1 on the charts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the UK, further cementing the band's standing in the rock world
The Foo Fighters have always emphasized the spirit of "ROCK", as seen on July 4, 2015, when Dave Grohl broke his leg after falling off the stage but continued to perform with his leg in a cast. The remaining shows also went on, with Grohl playing from a throne he designed himself. In 2019, the band shared stages with other rock giants like The 1975, The Killers, Weezer, and Tenacious D. The Foo Fighters have been around for over 25 years, and there's no end in sight.
