With Sempiternal (2013), a new era began for Bring Me The Horizon. The album combined metalcore with electronic sounds and catchy hooks, earning the British band international recognition. Later releases like That’s The Spirit (2015) and Amo (2019) further expanded the sonic spectrum towards alternative rock, pop, and industrial, without losing emotional depth.
The shift in sound did not come without criticism. Some fans of the earlier style accused Oli Sykes and co. of moving toward the mainstream for commercial reasons. At the same time, industry critics praised the band for their tremendous evolution, which they continued successfully.
Sold–out headliner tours worldwide, headlining slots at major international festivals, and collaborations with international brands have made Bring Me The Horizon a fixture in the alternative music scene. They also expanded into other media: their song “Ludens” served as a soundtrack for the game Death Stranding.
In recent years, the band made waves again with the two Post Human releases (Survival Horror 2020 and NeX GEn 2024), even after Jordan Fish’s departure in 2023, proving that musical evolution remains a core part of their identity. Visually, the collective is constantly reinventing itself. The AI figure Eve dominates the band’s live shows, embedding the songs into a larger narrative.
