It's one of those encounters that's part of the band's music history: In 1965 Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek were at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television where they studied, when Manzarek hears some of Morrison's songs (among others 'Moonlight Drive'). He then suggests starting a band - The starting point for The Doors, who still remain as one of the most influential bands of the 1960s (Not to mention one of the most hard working too), because between 1967 and 1971 The Doors released eight studio albums (of which included L.A. WOMAN, 13 & STRANGE DAYS) - Every release (besides one) of which made it into the top 10 US charts.

If you believe the music experts, The Doors had their big success thanks to the lyrics and stage appearance of lead singer Jim Morrison, whose face is also displayed on much of The Doors' merch. In 1971 Morrison sadly died of a cardiac infarction. Even today fans and even The Doors keyboard player Ray Manzarek express their doubt on that version, Manzarek stating that Morrison could have faked his death and is in fact living a happy life in the Seychelles today.

After Jim's death/disappearance the remaining band released two records, which were sadly not as successful. In 1973 they disbanded, before going on a huge comeback tour in 2003 under a different name.
