Metallica will celebrate the 30th anniversary of ReLoad next year, but they’re already kicking things off early. This June, the thrash metal giants are bringing back their seventh studio album as ReLoad (Remastered). The reissue will also feature previously unreleased material.

Metallica: “ReLoad” reissue arrives in June

The release is scheduled for June 26, 2026, and will be available in various formats. You can get it as a vinyl box set packed with extras, as a 2LP edition in black or translucent yellow, as well as on CD.

You can find an overview and the pre-order here, where all details on the different versions are available. Better be quick before the limited edition sells out!

Metallica ReLoad

Originally released in November 1997, ReLoad continued Metallica’s streak of success: the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, spent nearly 80 weeks on the charts, and reached top positions internationally.

The record was created during sessions between 1995 and 1997 at “The Plant” in Sausalito, California—a creative period that also produced its predecessor Load (1996), and saw James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Jason Newsted deliberately expand their sound and explore new musical territory. Over the years, ReLoad has only grown in stature, not least because tracks like “Fuel” and “The Memory Remains” remain staples of the band’s live shows to this day.
