Lou Koller, frontman and founding member of the hardcore band Sick Of It All, has passed away. The band shared the heartbreaking news of their friend and bandmate's death through their official channels.
Sick Of It All Frontman Lou Koller Has Passed Away
According to the band's statement, Koller lost his battle with cancer after fighting the disease for more than two years. In 2024, the musician publicly revealed that he had been diagnosed with esophageal cancer and regularly shared updates on his health throughout his treatment. In May 2025, he announced the wonderful news that he was cancer-free. Less than six months later, however, he informed the community that the cancer had returned.
On July 24, the band shared the following statement:
"It is with unimaginable sadness that we have to tell our worldwide hardcore family that our brother Lou Koller has passed away. The pain and emptiness we feel at this moment are beyond words.
This year would have marked Sick Of It All's 40th anniversary as a band. Throughout all those years, Lou was a loyal friend whose unwavering dedication, passion, and loyalty helped shape everything this band stood for. We have lost not only a beloved friend, but also a legendary frontman.
With his smile and his dry, sarcastic sense of humor, Lou had a way of making everyone at our shows smile, no matter the country or culture. Everywhere we played, he connected with people and left a lasting impression.
During this time of profound grief, we also want to once again thank everyone who donated to Lou's medical fund. Your support over the past two years of his difficult battle showed him just how deeply he was loved and appreciated.
His fight is now over, and he can finally rest in peace. We hope that, in some way, he can still see and feel the incredible positive impact he had on this world."

Lou Koller founded Sick Of It All alongside his brother, Pete Koller. Since 1993, the band had remained in the same lineup, becoming one of the most enduring and respected acts in the hardcore scene. Together, they released twelve studio albums, most recently Wake The Sleeping Dragon! in 2018.
The band was widely known for its consistency, both in terms of its lineup and its unmistakable sound. Sick Of It All are regarded as pioneers of New York Hardcore and have influenced countless bands within the hardcore scene over the decades. This year marks the band's 40th anniversary—a milestone that will sadly be celebrated without their iconic frontman.
