Have you already scanned the album cover of Big Ole Album Vol. 1, the latest release from A Day To Remember, for familiar faces? If so, you might have noticed that Oli Sykes is among the crowd. But what’s the reason behind this?

Oli Sykes Provided a Song Idea for A Day To Remember

For the production of their album, A Day To Remember collaborated with producer Zakk Cervini, who has previously worked with Bring Me The Horizon. He and BMTH frontman Oli Sykes have clearly stayed in touch. This connection is how A Day To Remember ended up with the idea for their song "Die For Me", as ADTR’s Jeremy McKinnon explains in an interview with Kerrang!:

“We show up to the studio one day with coffee, and Zakk [Cervini, producer] says, ‘Hey, we’ve got this little idea that we’ve been messing around with,’ He’s obviously worked with Bring Me a lot in recent years, and he’d told Oli that he was working with us."

“Oli had sent Zakk a voice memo of this melody with some lyrics, a few of them mumbled here and there, and Zakk put some music to it. We hear this idea and were immediately like, ‘Well, it’s obvious what we’re working on today – this is badass!’ We worked up the story to speak to what was going on in our life, and that became Die For Me.”
