Heaven Shall Burn in Interview: Favorite Place “Heimat”

Marcus and Maik from Heaven Shall Burn show how well they really know each other in our Shot or Not interview. Their beloved home (Heimat) also comes up!

At the Impericon Festival 2025, Heaven Shall Burn delivered a unique record release show for their new album Heimat as headliners. It got not only loud, but also emotional! And behind the scenes, we presented vocalist Marcus Bischoff and guitarist Maik Weichert with a few more questions. But not from us to the band – instead, as a challenge for the two of them: how much do Maik and Marcus really know about each other after years of band history, from everyday topics to deep questions like their greatest inspiration in life? The full video can be found below!

So what is Marcus Bischoff’s favorite place?

“I might know the place,” Maik says in response to the question. “I’d say Hohenwarte Reservoir.”

Correct?

“Correct. Absolutely.”

Maik adds: “Beautiful Thuringian Sea. A huge reservoir in the Thuringian Sea. Blue between green trees, just like you’d imagine. That’s where Molle is from. That’s where he likes it most.”

Marcus explains:

“Exactly. That’s also where I feel comfortable. I even go ice bathing there now. It’s really great – summer and winter, fantastic. Some people even say there are places that look a bit like Norway, like the fjords. It’s truly unbelievably beautiful. And that’s why we are where we are rooted, in our home, and we’re also very proud and happy about that, yes.”
