Green Day had the honor of opening the massive sporting event in the U.S. live at the Super Bowl 2026. On February 8, the band performed some of their biggest hits, including “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life),” “Holiday,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” and “American Idiot.”
This time, despite political tensions, Green Day did not make any changes to their lyrics. Some fans are disappointed about that — but the punk rockers still delivered their usual high-energy show. After all, their original lyrics are already critical in tone, classic Green Day style, and hearing “American Idiot” live in this setting alone is still a powerful statement.
