Wenige Bands haben in den letzten Jahren eine solche Entwicklung hinter sich wie Bring Me The Horizon: von der Core-Perle zum Massenphänomen, das weltweit Fans begeistert.

Begonnen hat alles 2004, als sich die Jungs - gerade mal zwischen 15 und 17 Jahre alt - in Sheffield, England zu Bring Me The Horizon (oft mit BMTH abgekürzt) zusammenschließen. Schon der Release ihrer EP THIS IS WHAT THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT WAS MADE FOR im selben Jahr macht Oliver Sykes & Co. zum Gesprächsthema, doch mit ihrem Debüt COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS (2006) katapultieren sie sich direkt in die Herzen von tausenden Deathcore-Fans.

Auch wenn sie ihrem ursprünglichen Sound inklusive Death Metal-Elementen auf den folgenden Alben wie SUICIDE SEASON (2008) und spätestens SEMPITERNAL (2013) den Rücken kehrten: Der Hype um diese Band wuchs und wuchs und hatte dennoch seinen Höhepunkt noch lange nicht erreicht. Mit dem - unter "Oldschool Fans" natürlich nicht ganz unumstrittenen - Album THAT'S THE SPIRIT (2015) bewiesen sie, dass sich härtere Musik und Charterfolge nicht unbedingt ausschließen müssen, denn das Album mit dem Regenschirm-Cover eroberte weltweit die Charts. Bands wie Asking Alexandria, The Ghost Inside und While She Sleeps nannten speziell SUICIDE SEASON als großen Einfluss für ihr Schaffen.

Bring Me The Horizon - AMO

"Do you wanna start a cult with me?" - Im August 2018 tauchten weltweit mysteriöse Poster mit dem neuen Logo der Band auf, nach dem Release der neuen Single "Mantra" folgte dann die offizielle Announcement: Das neue BMTH-Album heißt AMO und erscheint am 11. Januar 2019. Mit dem Release beweisen die Briten einmal mehr, dass sie nicht mehr "nur" eine Band sind, sondern mittlerweile Kultfiguren sind, die mit ihrem Style und ihrer Musik eine ganze Szene prägen.
