Atari Merch - The Ultimate for Retro Fans

Atari is iconic - and has been since 1972. Games like Space Invaders, Asteroids, and Missile Command are still highly regarded by retro fans today. The company itself quickly specialized in consumer electronics and video games. Atari is considered a pioneer for an incredible number of technical developments in the communications industry. In the early 80s, the company became the largest manufacturer of arcade machines, as you know them from arcade halls. Shortly thereafter, the same was true for their revolutionary home video game systems. Are you as big of a retro fan as we are? Then take a look around. We have plenty of Atari T-shirts, caps, fanny packs, and keychains for you. Get your Atari merch now online at the Impericon Shop. For fans of other games, we also have a lot of fan articles. For your modern console merch, you should check out Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo.

The Beginning Of A New Video Game Era

The two founders, Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney, started the company in 1972 in California. The name comes from the vocabulary of the Japanese board game "Go." Originally, the company was supposed to be called "Syzygy," but that name was already taken. The first game Computer Space was not a big success, as the controls were too complicated. But with the game Pong," the developers achieved a major breakthrough. Since the game also became incredibly popular on home consoles, this development is considered the beginning of the commercial video game era. Did you know that even the Apple founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak worked for Atari? In 1975, they developed an improved home version of Pong and the game Breakout." A year later, the company also released its most popular gaming console, the Atari VCS 2600.
