They started out as a little cover band, that performed hits by the likes of The Rolling Stones & Beatles in small Australian clubs. Today however, AC/DC are one of the biggest hard rock bands of all time. With songs like 'T.N.T' or 'Hells Bells' they reached immortality and believe it or not, AC/DC merch is even available in H&M stores nowadays. With their sound they have naturally influenced many musicians such as Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong who once said in an interview: "If it wasn’t for Angus Young, I wouldn’t be playing guitar."
AC/DC: BAND HISTORY
AC/DC were formed back in 1973 by the brothers Angus and Malcolm Young (the latter sadly left the band because of his dementia disorder). The band name? The abbreviation for"alternating current/direct current", separated by the famous AC/DC lightning. A little later they released their first single 'Can I Sit Next To You Girl?' and from that moment on there really was no stopping for the "Rock 'n' Roll Train". However, shortly after the release of the worldwide success HIGHWAY TO HELL (1979) the former lead singer Bon Scott very sadly died. They later found their new singer in the form of Brian Johnson and the band later went on to record BACK IN BLACK (1980), the most successful record to date.
In 2015 AC/DC had to cancel their US tour because Brian Johnson would otherwise have risked becoming deaf. His successor was none other than Axl Rose (Guns N' Roses), who took over during the US- and Euro-Tour. Even though the men are still selling out stadium after stadium, it seems that ROCK OR BUST (2015) will most likely remain the last ever AC/DC record, as in an interview Angus Young had said that the band probably won't be going on another tour again and that they should have ended things after ROCK OR BUST.
