Suicide Silence was formed in 2002 in Riverside, California, and is among the most influential bands in Deathcore. With their brutal sound, extreme vocals, and massive breakdowns, they significantly shaped the development of heavy music.
Their international breakthrough came with the album The Cleansing (2007), which remains a milestone of Deathcore to this day. Songs like “No Pity For A Coward” made Suicide Silence famous worldwide and established their brutal style. Later releases like No Time To Bleed (2009) and The Black Crown (2011) solidified their status within the scene and showed steady evolution.
A turning point in the band's history was the death of frontman Mitch Lucker in 2012. Despite this heavy loss, Suicide Silence decided to continue with their new frontman, Hernan “Eddie” Hermida—who remains part of the lineup today—releasing You Can’t Stop Me in 2014 and successfully carving out different facets of their sound in the following years.
The band experimented more heavily with groove, Nu Metal, and industrial influences on subsequent records like Suicide Silence (2017), Become The Hunter (2020), and Remember… You Must Die (2023), without fully abandoning their roots in extreme metal. This openness to change sparked discussions among fans and critics but also underlined the band's desire to avoid repeating themselves. The 2017 self-titled record can be seen as a complete Nu Metal work, while Become The Hunter brought back the Deathcore of the early days in parts with less experimentation.
Today, Suicide Silence stands for consistency as well as the willingness to evolve and never stand still.
Their live shows are characterized by a mix of old and new. While classics from their early works are always part of the setlist, the Californians aren't afraid to integrate new tracks as well.
Throughout their career, Suicide Silence has shared the stage with many scene greats like Trivium, Machine Head, Static-X, and more. In their early days, they toured with bands like Parkway Drive and A Day To Remember, who, like "SuSi," were less known at the time.
