Sabaton is one of the most popular names in Metal, but also beyond. They are known for addressing military history in their songs, often releasing concept albums about specific historical events and wars. The Power Metal band was founded in Sweden in 1999 and quickly built a loyal fanbase with their first four albums. Their popularity exploded with the release of their album Carolus Rex, which achieved quadruple platinum status in Sweden alone.

Success That Changes Lives

The band had their big breakthrough in 2012 with the album Carolus Rex, following the first international success with Coat of Arms. In 2013, Sabaton became the opening act for Iron Maiden on the Maiden England tour. Their own headline position at Summer Breeze that same year, alongside bands like In Flames and Lamb Of God, was even more monumental. In 2017, Sabaton achieved something many bands only dream of: having Heavy Metal legends Accept as their opening act on their tour in Germany. In 2019, they reached another milestone by headlining Wacken Open Air alongside Slayer and Parkway Drive, taking over both main stages for a memorable performance.

Since Carolus Rex, each of the band's albums has topped the charts: Heroes (2014), The Last Stand (2016), The Great War (2019), and The War To End All Wars (2022). All these albums spent weeks at number one in Sweden, with the last two also reaching number one in Germany! Sabaton is considered one of the fastest-growing Metal acts of the past decade.

History As Music: From Carolus Rex To The Great War

The successful album Carolus Rex tells the story of Swedish King Charles XII and his empire. Sabaton recorded this album not only in English but also as a Swedish version. In Heroes, they dedicated songs to various war heroes and their actions during World War II. The follow-up album The Last Stand focuses on the final battles and defenses. As the title suggests, The Great War delves into World War I and highlights the atrocities of this conflict. The War To End All Wars continues this theme by showcasing the impact of war on people and societies.
