HEY HO, LET'S GO. Four words and instantly we all have the most famous song by Ramones in our heads: 'Blitzkrieg Bop' from 1976.

Two years earlier the American punk rock band were formed. The Ramones wanted to be different than all the glam rock bands out there that were successful at that time. In an interview they once said: "The bands we loved, the rock ’n’ roll that we knew, had disappeared" - So they started their own genre. It's trademark? Short, fast songs without any intro, solos or other flourishes.

In 1996, after 2262 shows and 14 records later, the Ramones called it quits, the last remaining founding member Tommy Ramone (by the way, "Ramone" is only a stage name) died in 2014. Nevertheless the band is still an important constant in playlists worldwide & in the wardrobe of many teenagers (thanks to Ramones shirts which you'll have no doubt seen everywhere, even in the likes of H&M).
